The Hydr’8 guidewire features a polymer jacket on the distal 30cm active end of the device. The jacket replaces the proximal stainless steel coils and encapsulates the distal radiopaque 3cm Platinum Tip coil. There are a number of advantages to the polymer jacket approach.

- Smooth Surface finish.
- Stacking and movement of coils is overcome.
- Reduced Surface area exposed to the blood.
- Soft Durometer material provides damping of the core material.
- Encapsulation avoids unraveling of the coiled wire.
- The Polymer is bonded onto the entire length of the tapered core ensuring no loss of Torque or Push.
- The jacket is constructed using Medical grade Polyurethane.
- Radiopaque filler material is included in the blend for X-ray visibility.
- A durometer of 85A is typical for this product.
- The distal tip is radiused for reduced trauma.
- Jacket is compatible with Brivant Hydrophilic Coating.
