- ‘Liber’8’ is the name given to Brivant’s range of OEM guidewires for Highly Stenosed Lesions. It is a natural progression from the Liber’8 OEM Guidewire Range. As with ‘Navig'8’, customers can be supplied Bulk Non Sterile or have the Liber’8 guidewires supplied packaged, sterile and labelled. We also cater for our customers regulatory requirements.
- The Liber’8 guidewire is available in 3, 4.5, 6, 9 and 12 gram force. It is specifically intended as an extra stiff guidewire for highly stenosed lesions. Key to its design is the one piece core construction which removes abrupt transitions and ensures torque is transmitted along a central axis.

- In order for a physician to penetrate even the lesser calcified lesions that a guidewire must be torqued a considerable number of times. The torqueability of the Liber’8 allows the physician to achieve canalization and advance the guidewire without excessive torquing until the lesion has been traversed.

- The Liber’8 guidewire is also available with a micro J-tip to facilitate the location of micro channels within a lesion. This added design feature can permit the physician to locate the penetration site of a highly stenosed lesion more rapidly and can reduce the recanalization time. The use of an Liber’8 guidewire can reduce the need for second attempt recanalization, which would usually take place 8-12 weeks after the first attempt in order to allow the lesion to remodel itself before reattempting recanalization.
- The Liber’8 range of wires assist penetration through the highly stenosed lesion because they have different tips from 3 grams to 12 grams and each has a different level of stiffness. Physicians can employ the Liber’8’ incrementally higher-stiffness wires in conjunction with a catheter device.
The stiffness of each tip within the Brivant guide wire range was tested in an impingement test as shown in the schematic diagram shown below.
